Art Collector House
Managua, Nicaragua
Sited in a clearing surrounded by forest this house features public spaces with spectacular views of the wooded landscape while the private rooms look to insular gardens. The house is structured around an entry courtyard with social, private and service areas arranged on three sides of the court. The circulation is through a series of transparent layers which reveal contiguous spaces as one walks through them. Built for a collector of Latin American paintings the living areas and circulation spaces are designed to display art. Large volumes with high ceilings and corner windows provide ample walls to showcase an extensive painting collection making the house a virtual private museum.
