Banco Uno Headquarters

San Jose, Costa Rica

Located on prestigious Avenida Rohrmoser on an important intersection, the design of the main building, with its curved façade and intersecting volumes, announces the presence of a regional financial institution. The project consists of two buildings totaling 60,000 sf, arranged around an entrance court. The main building consists of three intersecting volumes: a four story high banking hall with a curved glass wall facing the major intersection, a circulation and service spine which diagonally aligns with the angle of the avenue, and a rectangular block which holds the offices. The building employed extensive use of sun-shading and light diffusing devices to regulate solar intake and maximize the use of natural light to the public spaces and work areas. Grupo Uno was acquired by CitiBank in 2008. This project was a joint venture with arquitect Camilo Rosales.
