Beach House at Playa Honda

Pacific Ocean, Costa Rica

Situated on a 15 acre beach front property that has been dedicated as a nature preserve this private residence overlooks the beautiful bay of Playa Honda. One approaches the steep site through a winding road that gives shape to a curved floor plan. The main volumes, including living and sleeping spaces are arranged in linear formation along a curved circulation spine, affording each room impressive views of the Pacific Ocean and a rock island at one end of the bay. Openness and clarity are the main concepts of the house and the social areas, which are literally without walls, become one with the landscape. This project was a joint venture with arquitect Camilo Rosales.
